Cibubur – Senin (14/8/23), Mengelilingi semua stand yang ada di Bumi Perkemahan Cibubur. Salah satu stand teramai dikunjungi dan berhasil menarik perhatian kami. Dipenuhi dengan souvenir dari bulu burung kasuari.
Terletak dibagian Ujung Timur Indonesia dengan segala keunikannya. Masyarakat Papua menggunakan bulu burung kasuari dan biji buah merah atau lebih tepatnya biji buah kuansu untuk menghiasi souvenir mereka.
Salah satunya adalah ikat kepala atau zimbu tapi kerap kali disebut sebagai mahkota. Mahkota ini terbuat dari kulit kayu yang dikeringkan kemuadian dihiasi dengan biji buah merah dan bulu burung kausari.
Biji buah merah (Pandanus conoideus lamk). Buah merah merupakan tanaman endemik dari Papua, khususnya masyarakat Wamena, Papua pegunungan, yang biasa disebut kuansu. Selain sebagai souvenir, buah merah dipercaya mampu meningkatkan stamina dan daya tahan tubuh terhadap berbagai penyakit.
Burung dengan keistimewaan memiliki suara serta warna bulu yang indah sangatlah disukai oleh banyak orang. Kasuari merupakan salah satu dari dua genus burung di dalam suku Casuariidae. Genus ini terdiri dari tiga spesies kasuari yang berukuran sangat besar dan tidak dapat terbang.
Kasuari adalah ratites atau burung yang memiliki tulang dada datar dan tidak dapat terbang, kasuari adalah spesies asli Papua dan sekitarnya, termasuk Papua Nugini dan Australia bagian utara dan Asia Tenggara.
“Menurut kami bulu burung ini sangat unik dan hanya ada di papua” Ujar Lusia veronica yumoe mahuse salah seorang peserta Raimuna Nasional dari Papua.
Tradisi membuat mahkota dari bulu burung kasuari dan biji buah merah biasanya dilakukan ketika ada acara atau kegiatan besar. Salah satu contohnya adalah ketika acara adat pernikahan. Diawali dengab berburu, menyembelih dan terakhir makan bersama.
“Tapi sekarang sudah banyak souvenir dari bulu burung yang imitasi, burung kasuari menjadi hewan yang harus dilindungi karena sudah hampir punah” ujar kak uni salah seorang Dewan Kerja Nasional.
Burung kasuari termasuk burung yang dilindungi Undang-Undang Nomor 5 Tahun 1990 tentang Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam Hayati dan Ekosistemnya, sehingga burung kasuari hidup dan telurnya tidak boleh dibawa keluar dari Papua. Burung kasuari hanya dapat dijumpai di Papua, untuk itu perlu dijaga kelestariannya.
